My core experience teaching has been through two, 5-week practicum placements in the classroom within the Peel District School Board in November-December 2023 and February-March 2024. I am completing research on the correlation between mental health and English literacy to prioritize student wellness in our schools using nuanced educational strategies based on reciprocity, equity, and respect. I was awarded prestigious scholarships including the University of Toronto Mississauga Entrance Award of Distinction 2019 and the University of Toronto Scholars Award 2019. I have achieved above class average in all completed courses and achieved a 4.0 GPA in English. I have also had experience through tutoring in-person and online for English, History, and Social Studies. I have taught students in University, High School, and Elementary grades. My experience also includes being a Teacher’s Assistant. I have created lesson plans as per the school’s curriculum. Additionally, I have taught IEP and ESL learners and students with autism, ADHD, and behavioural exceptionalities. I am experienced in using online platforms including Bramble, SOLARO, Moodle Cloud, and Zoom.
I am a Master of Teaching candidate in the intermediate/senior division at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) at the University of Toronto set to graduate in June 2025. My Anchor Teachable is English and my Secondary Teachable is History. I completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts (HBA) with high distinction, at the University of Toronto Mississauga in June 2023, with a major in English and a double minor in Creative Writing and History. I hold a Transitional Certificate of Qualification and Registration (TCQR) as an active Ontario College of Teachers (OCT) member. I enjoy creative writing and reading. I have had thirteen poems and five short stories published in Canada, the USA, and The United Kingdom. Being patient, caring, and encouraging is my teaching style. I look forward to supporting you this year!
