Rahul

I have over 8 years of experience teaching and mentoring students in chemistry across high school and university levels. During this time, I have worked with students from Grade 9 through undergraduate studies, helping them build strong foundations in chemistry and develop effective problem-solving skills.

My teaching experience includes Grade 9–12 science and chemistry, MCAT Chemistry, AP Chemistry, IB Chemistry (SL and HL), Edexcel A-Level Chemistry, and undergraduate chemistry courses. I have taught a wide range of topics including stoichiometry, chemical reactions, atomic structure, bonding, thermodynamics, kinetics, equilibrium, acids and bases, electrochemistry, organic chemistry, and analytical chemistry.

As a Teaching Assistant at Queen’s University and IISER Kolkata, I supported undergraduate laboratory and classroom instruction, mentored students during experiments and projects, graded assignments and lab reports, and helped students connect theoretical concepts with practical applications. In addition, I have several years of experience providing one-on-one and small-group tutoring, designing customized lessons based on each student’s learning style and academic goals.

My teaching philosophy focuses on developing a deep conceptual understanding rather than relying on memorization. I encourage students to think critically, approach problems systematically, and gain confidence in applying chemistry concepts to unfamiliar situations. Whether preparing students for school assessments, AP and IB examinations, Edexcel A-Level exams, or the MCAT, I strive to create an engaging and supportive learning environment that helps students achieve their full potential.

My name is Rahul Kumar, and I hold a PhD in Chemistry from Queen’s University, Canada. My journey in chemistry began during my undergraduate studies at IISER Kolkata and has since taken me through academic research, industry research and development, and teaching.

Over the years, I have worked on cutting-edge research in energy materials, batteries, electrocatalysis, and hydrovoltaic devices, publishing my work in leading scientific journals. Alongside research, I discovered a passion for teaching and mentoring students. I enjoy breaking down complex concepts into simple ideas and helping students see the logic behind chemistry rather than treating it as a subject to memorize.

I have worked with students from Grade 9 to university level, including those preparing for AP, IB, Edexcel A-Level, and MCAT examinations. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching is watching students gain confidence in topics they once found intimidating.

Outside of chemistry, I enjoy travelling, marathon running, badminton, and fitness. I believe that learning becomes much easier when students feel comfortable asking questions, and I strive to create an engaging and supportive environment where curiosity is encouraged.
